Burlington Stores (NYSE: BURL) continued with its aggressive national expansion by opening 33 new stores across 17 states in the month of September. Atlantic Retail, as exclusive tenant agent for Burlington, was proud to represent the retailer in 7 of those transactions. Five of the new stores were opened in Florida with additional sites in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Three Atlantic offices represent Burlington in their respective territories.
Burlington continues to be one of retailing’s great turnaround stories. After dropping “Coat” from it’s name in 2013, the company dramatically expanded it’s product offering in both apparel and housewares. Its relatively small store count, when compared with rivals Ross and TJX, gives Burlington plenty of runway to continue its expansion plan and reach more and more customers. Additionally, its “treasure hunt” shopping experience gives it a competitive edge against online competition.
